kaspersky internet security 2010 2010-08-30 I have had Kaspersky during 2008 and 2009 and was very happy with it, so I bought 2010. However I have had problems with this version. It started to completely hog the resources with several instances of an executable avp.exe running using up to 98% of the resources of the PC so it would grind to a halt. AVP.exe appears to be part of Kaspersky's program, but some web threads claim it is a virus. Anyhow, whatever I did I could not really resolve this or remove it, and could not get rid of the problem. The Kaspersky helpdesk was very difficult to get a response from so were no real help. So I finally unistalled it and used Avast, a free A.V. from the web instead (which by the way works a treat). I retained kaspersky on my Dell laptop as it runs reasonably ok on this machine although still a bit heavy on resources. Also it is intrusive in its messages and suggestions for updates even though it is set to auto update the profiles.It still asks you to update every time you switch on which is very annoying. You want an AV that gets on with normal tasks in the background and does not keep pestering you like a youngster wishing to gain your attention all the time.I won't be buying kaspersky 2011 that is for sure.
Works for me 2010-08-29 This is my third Kaspersky product as each time my license runs out it is cheaper to buy a new version from Amazon than renew my licenses. When I bought my first Kaspersky it was considered one of the best out there and did the job very well. Previously I had used Norton (slowed down my computer), McAfree (stopped my computer working) and Panda (worked fine but always got bad reviews in terms of quality of protection). When I upgraded to 2009 there were reviews saying that it crippled older systems but I bought it anyway and it worked well. Similalry, before upgrading to 2010 I read reviews on Amazon again stating that you needed a top of the range computer and Windows Vista or 7. However, I decided to go for the product again and have installed it on an XP machine (which is getting rather old now), a Vista laptop (now dead due to an unrelated hard drive failure) and a Windows 7 laptop. For each installation the program works fine. I agree that updating can be sluggish but compared to my computer at work that uses Norton it is a lot quicker. Apart from updating the program works well though my desktop is slower then when running 2009. As far as I can tell security programs are pot-luck. No package ever comes top of all magazine reviews and how well a program works appears to be based on what programs you have on your hard drive and what you use your computer for. Kaspersky has worked for me now for about 2.5 years though I do worry whether 2011 will finally cripple my desktop.
Ok 2010-08-29 Product is good at finding viruses but slows machine down quite a bit when auto updating and also finds issues with secure applications.
my second msg. to this review 2010-08-27 Delivery of the product was v.v. good. however I have still not been able to install it !! I replied to this review about 3 wks ago but I have received no replies or assistance. there are no other AV programs running on my PC but Kaspersky refuses to be recognised.
Not satisfied 2010-08-23 I have not had any use for my Product ,Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, because of the program is not installable and I am very disappointing to pay for something that is not working. I tried in different adress that you provided me but no respond and I still have no Internet security for my comuters at home. "Not good" and I am very disappointed in your dealership and my purchase from you.
